An agent that knows general facts is still missing the part that makes work actually happen: the local procedure. Which file is canonical? Which checks are mandatory? What does “done” mean here? Which edge cases should stop the run?

Anthropic says Agent Skills package that procedural knowledge as a SKILL.md file plus the scripts and references needed for a task. In its October 2026 announcement, the company said it was donating the standard, name, and ecosystem assets to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation.

Portability creates a new editorial problem

Portable skills are useful because they travel across agent products. They are risky for the same reason. A skill is executable know-how, not just prose. Installation, permissions, versioning, and provenance become part of the product surface.

That is why a discovery platform should not only list what a tool can do. It should show where the procedure came from, who maintains it, what it touches, and when it was last checked. The source trail is not decoration; it is the trust layer.

If procedural knowledge becomes portable, provenance becomes a feature.

A better project profile

For BidCrown, a useful project profile should eventually include the build story, the source repository or documentation, permissions, maintenance signals, and a clear distinction between a creator's claim and our own verification. That gives builders distribution without pretending that every listing is a benchmark.
